We are all on a journey of some sort. Over the last year or so, I've been made aware how many things I shy away from because I am scared. Scared of what people will think and say... scared of uncertainty in the future... scared of not having my needs met. What I've come to realize is that we all struggle with these things. They only way to not let them control your life is to learn to work through them by taking courage. What is courage? According to the dictionary on my computer it is "the ability to do something that frightens one." Easier said than done though, right?
How does one work on that stuff? Well, for me its been a step by step process. Each day, I spend some time reminding myself what I live for and why I do it. I think about the decisions I will have to make and the temptations I will face. I remind myself before I have to make these decisions why I want to choose one over the other... why I might want to practice guitar instead of watching youtube videos for 2 hours...why I might want to go say hi to the person that looks new to where-ever-the-heck-i-am. I also try to imagine what accomplishment of the over all goals I am working towards will look like. Do I still make the less wise choice? Oh yeah. But its getting better.
I would say this website is another piece of this dream. The dream of not being limited by the fears that plague me. The dream of accomplishing something grand in life. The dream of some way, some how, making a difference in the lives of those around me. This website is a place I can put the music that comes from my journey. Others who interact with me, be it real life or social media, also have a better chance of being affected positively in some way by it. That is my hope; that all who encounter the art that I create will come away better because of it.
The beauty is, this dream... well... It could happen...
